Antique Anton Lang Art Pottery Floral Vase / Planter – Oberammergau, Germany
Charming antique hand-crafted art pottery vase attributed to Anton Lang (1875–1938) of Oberammergau, Germany. Lang was a noted studio potter and is also remembered for portraying Jesus Christ in the famous Oberammergau Passion Play. He operated a family pottery workshop in Oberammergau that produced decorative art pottery and folk-art ceramics.
This attractive piece features raised hand-decorated floral motifs including white daisies, blue flowers, red blossoms, and green foliage against a soft blue glazed background. The interior is finished in a rich terracotta-red glaze, creating a striking contrast with the colorful exterior decoration.
The underside bears an impressed “Lang” mark consistent with pottery from the Anton Lang workshop in Oberammergau. Similar Anton Lang pottery pieces have appeared in collector and sale markets.
