VINTAGE OLD WESTERN AMERICAN 1964 HELDORADO HANDCRAFTED STERLING SILVER & RUBY GEM STONES TROPHY STYLE BELT BUCKLE. This spectacular antique western American belt buckle was custom made to commemorate the 1964 renewal of the HELDORADO celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada. HELDORADO is an annual event that celebrates the city’s frontier town origins. Originally a small farming area and water hole in a Nevada valley, it’smind boggling what the city has become!!
This very high quality buckle was hallmarked with a cursive “D” inside a diamond shaped image. We have asked a number of experts and, so far, all have been stumped. A few suggested that it might have been made by a local, Nevada, silversmith. Whoever created it was certainly very talented. It’s every bit as nice as many famous high end makers’ products. It features an open floral filigree border design, hand engraving, bronze roped edges, and 2 light red genuine ruby gem stones. We are offering the buckle in true vintage condition with a wonderful naturally aged patina. It measures 3 1/2” x 2 1/2”, fits belts up to 1 1/2” wide and weighs 55 grams on our scale.
