This Gorgeous Art Deco Volupté Atomizer was made inthe 1920’s and stands 8.5 inches tall.
The atomizer is encrusted in 22kt gold that crisscrosses over stunningpink panels. An opaque pink glass ring placedin true Art Deco style accentuates the stem.
There are small specs of gold loss to the metal, nothing major, and an area of gold loss to thebase. Otherwise, the atomizer remains in excellentvintage condition. There are no chips, cracks or damage.
The hose is still pliable and when you squeeze it air comes out of theatomizer. I am not sure if this is theoriginal hose or a replacement.
The top does not appear to come off. I did try but I did not attempt to forceit. It may be stuck but someone withmore experience or a jeweler may be able to remove it if that is important.
Volupté,Inc. was founded in 1920 in Elizabeth, N.J. and continued in business throughoutthe depression era. Similar to othermanufactures like DeVilbiss, Volupté used fine glass bottles purchased fromAmerican companies including Cambridge and Tiffin as well as glass importedfrom Czechoslovakia.
Voluptéwas known for their elaborate decoration, use of abstract shapes in contrastingcolors and 22kt gold decorated encrustation work. Volupté produced feweratomizers than did DeVilbiss and are more scarce.
