This is an ultra rare 10\" (larger than the more common sizes) three arm candlestick/candelabra from San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca Mexico signed by the artist Dona RosaReal Mateo de Nieto, 1900-1980. Dona Rosa is pictured in the last photo. According to the note that was boxed with this item, It\'s estimated to be dated Mid Century.
In the 1950\'s, Dona Rosa discovered that she could change the color and shine of her pieces by making changes to how the clay is handled. The result was a shiny black finish that was unique instead of a dull gray.
Stands 10\" tall, base is 4\" wide and at top, measures about 6.25\" wide. And is signed on one side of the base.
From my grandparent\'s vast collection of pottery from all over the world! It\'s been quite an overwhelming process going through their collection & can only do so in small doses because of how much there is! BUT, it\'s also rubbed off on me in the last 2 years especially, I appreciate them so much more opposed to when I was growing up-I had no idea what they saw in these items, lol Sadly, I cannot keep them all myself and keeping them in storage just feels wrong. They need to be loved, bring a smile and evoke conversation! That feels right to me. Thank you so much..!
