The NASA scientific experiment kit as listed is a rare and unusual item with experimental seed packets and pertinent documents.
The seed packets, Educator’s Guide, a full color poster, and a letter from Maurice Averner, and William Knott the programs manager and the chief scientist of the program are included. This kit contains an Earth-Based Seed control seed packet, a space shuttle flown seed packet, and an underwater habitat seed packet. The space-based seeds were flown on the STS-86 Atlantis Space Shuttle mission to dock with the Mir Space Station.
Students were able to grow and monitor the space-exposed seeds and Earth-based seeds, searching for differences caused by exposure to cosmic radiation.
