This pre-Stanley era set spans from #4 to #16 (drilling accurate sizes from 1/4" up to 1" in exact 1/16" increments.This set has two incredible rarities: the 19th-century gold-trimmed interior lid label and two dual purpose factory advertising wrappers for both single and double thread bits used by Russell Jennings to educate buyers on how to identify their two flagship bit styles, Fig. 100 & 101, - true antique tool ephemera.
The flues are remarkably bright and clean. No heavy pitting, deep oxidation, or abuse. Shanks are clearly stamped with the authentic "RUSSELL JENNINGS" maker's mark. Lead screws and cutting spurs remain sharp and well-preserved.
The box and nesting partitions are solid and completely intact. The exterior wood shows a beautiful, natural aged patina.
The interior lid features the iconic gold-on-black lithograph label noting the original 1855 patent and the landmark 1876 extension-lip patent. The label is incredibly vibrant with some wear to the right side - see photos.
