Rare Malachite & Cuprite replacing Nat. Copper Continental Mine Butte Montana For Sale

Here up for grabs is another unique specimen that was collected from the east portion of the Continental pit in 1957. This was collected by geologist Gerald Gray of the Anaconda company. At some point it passed into the collection of Dr. Robert Jenkins and then on into the collection of George Loud. The specimen also comes with a George Loud collection label.
This was collected in the vicinity of the Bullwacker or Sarsfield mine with the latter being more likely based on the specimen geology. The area this specimen came from was later swallowed up by the pit as it expanded. The specimen shows several nice small patches of native copper that are surrounded by cuprite and some possible chalcocite and tenorite. The specimen consists of silicified malachite and chrysocolla that is quite nicely banded along with little micro veinlets of tenorite and chalcocite cross-cutting it. There is also a little bit of azurite in tow. Super neat specimen from 70 years ago!
