Description: This is a large polished slab of what is commonly called Apple Valley Jasper in the lapidary world - in fact, it is a stromatolite fossil from the approximately 521 million year old (Early Cambrian) Lie De Vin Formation in the High Atlas range of Morocco. This colourful fossil contains abundant stromatolitic bioherms and growths in a range of morphologies, and has been polished to a reflective finish. This material has become quite scarce, and small unpolished pieces typically command a high premium, making this large polished specimen a prized acquisition for serious collectors.
