Here's what the original seller said:""Green Calcite from Namibia. This is a really neat Calcite plate from the Kaokoveld area in Namibia with some intense green Malachite on the backside of it. When its held up to any light it is super gemmy green like an emerald color! It is in perfect condition."The book "Field Guide to Rocks and MInerals of Souther Africa" by Bruce Cairncross, PhD, states that green Calcite from Kaokoveld gets it's coloring from Dioptase for which the region is famous. This is the only green Calcite I was able to obtain since 2004 when I began collecting African minerals. It's a true rarity.
