Rare Authentic Fornasetti Ceramic Eye Paperweight Sand Filled Original Blue Base For Sale

Up for sale is a rare, authentic vintage "Occhio" (Eye) ceramic spherical paperweight designed by the legendary Italian designer Piero Fornasetti. This iconic piece features the stunning surrealist lithographic eye transfer print on a brilliant white glazed ceramic body.

This piece features all the critical verification points sought after by serious mid-century design collectors:

• Weighted Core: Features the correct internal granular sand/mineral filling, creating the signature subtle shaking sound when handled.
• Base Finishing: The original factory-applied blue protective base fabric remains fully intact.
• Dimensions: True vintage sizing at 74.2mm diameter and a substantial 9oz desk weight.

The paperweight is in Very Good Vintage Condition. The black transfer print remains incredibly crisp, dark, and highly detailed. The base pad is completely secured and structurally intact with light, age-appropriate discoloration. The white glaze shows expected, shallow surface crazing (fine hairline glaze lines) consistent with 50+ year-old Italian art pottery. There is a tiny, shallow glaze nick/hairline crack located near the right edge of the inner iris artwork. Please review the high-resolution close-up photos carefully to evaluate this minor detail.
