Rare Antique Japanese Hina Ningyo Standing 7.25" Male Emperor Doll 1910-1920s:
$95.90

This rare antique Japanese Hina Ningyo standing male emperor doll (or imperial attendant) was very likely made during the Taisho period (1912-1926) as a gift for the traditional March 3rd Girls Day celebration. He has a very sweet facial expression and wears an ornate brown and gold silk brocade kimono trimmed in bronze edging and red accents. He wears a pair of black slippers and his face is made of gofun, a white paste made from crushed oyster shells. His hands may be made of a different material and are possibly not original.
He is in overall great condition, but has some wear and flaws, which are expected given his age. His facial features are somewhat faded due to age, particularly on the right side, and there is staining on the base surrounding his feet; however, this will not be visible when he is displayed in a normal upright position. He also appears to have some small bald spots. Please see photos for details. Approximate Size: 7.25"T x 5"W x 3.25"D
Please note that listing price includes one (1) Japanese male doll only; any other items shown are for display purposes only and are not included. Due to differences in computer and camera settings, actual appearance of item may vary slightly from photos. We do our best to photograph and describe any chips, flaws, stains, crazing, markings, etc. of vintage and antique items, but these imperfections are part of their charm and authenticity! From a non-pet and smoke-free environment.
