Rare Antique Hochst Anthropomorphic Porcelain Frog Band Orchestra Set of 6 For Sale

A rare and highly collectible, matching set of six antique Hochst porcelain anthropomorphic frog musicians, forming a whimsical \"Frog Orchestra.\" German and dating to the late Victorian era (circa 1887–1902), each charming, human-like character is beautifully painted in vibrant period attire, perched upon a rustic tree-stump base finished with fine gold gilt highlights.The underside of the figurines feature an underglaze blue crowned six spoke wheel denoting this as Hochst (note the crown has three segments with a cross above). Each is also embossed with the number 34. This is a superb example of high-end Thuringian hard-paste porcelain craftsmanship and far superior to mid-century reproductions.The Anthropomorphic Orchestra Group Includes:

Five of the six figures are in wonderful antique condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. However the conductor figure is missing his porcelain baton from his right hand. The hand itself remains entirely intact and undamaged, leaving a clean grasp that does not detract from display.
