For your consideration is a rare antique Coalport England jeweled porcelain shoe-form slipper covered box, richly decorated in a gold ground with extensive raised turquoise enamel jeweling.
This unusual miniature shoe or slipper form features a fitted removable cover topped by an elegant gilt loop handle. The surface is lavishly embellished with rows of graduated turquoise raised enamel “jewels,” interspersed with tiny gilt raised accents against the richly gilded porcelain body. The sculptural shoe form rests on an integral raised heel.
The underside bears the green Coalport England crowned backstamp with A.D. 1750, together with the hand-painted pattern number V6298, additional number 55, and decorator/work number 14.
Coalport became especially well known for elaborate jeweled porcelain, in which raised enamel droplets were applied to imitate precious stones.
Approximate measurements: 4” long; 2.5” high to top of handle; weight 3.3 oz.
Antique pre-owned condition with age-related wear. There is a localized area of loss to the gilt decoration on the back rim, exposing the white porcelain beneath, and dark marking/discoloration is visible on approximately three of the turquoise applied jewels. Additional light wear to the gilding is present consistent with age and use. Please review all photographs closely, particularly the detailed condition photos, as they are part of the description.
