This listing is for a rare antique English hook & spike wall clock.
This piece dates to the 17th century (circa 1684). It is the work of Joseph Bell (not to be confused with later clockmaker with the same name, such as Joseph Bell of the late 18th century or Joseph Bell of the early 19th century).
This is a 30 hour birdcage style movement with SINGLE HAND. The minute hand had not come into fashion yet.
The dial is beautifully made with gorgeous spandrels on the corners.
Dial measures about 9.75 x 9.75 inches. The movement is about 7 inches in depth (including spikes at end)
This movement appears to be in overall good condition. Pendulum, bell, and weight are missing, so it has not been tested and must be sold as is.
