Very rare 1st Issue 1974 US Army 2nd Ranger Bn 75th Infantry Airborne Challenge Coin. These first run coins were made by the Robbins Company (makers mark shown) and were Sterling Silver. This particular coin is #18, and being an early number was likely given or offered to senior staff. All others after these run (some were numbered to (I think) 500 or so, were made of base metals, and then the modern brass versions were made after those. This is an originalfirst edition run coin, and is the first we\'ve seen offered for sale in over a decade. These will never be made again, unlike modern day coins that can be made in infinite numbers - this one is a true collectable, and is from of one of the Army\'s most famous units. This is a true investment grade coin and is in excellent original condition as shown.
