Rare 1959 Vietnam War Officers Mess Dress Blue coat Theater made Hong Kong named:
$99.99

MINNEAPOLIS ESTATE SALE FIND...I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS BUT DID LOTS OF RESEARCH*** This is a rare Military jacket/coat! Beautiful custom made "Mess Dress" jacket. Made for formal occasions, or Gala attire. Looks like wool with a silky type lining. Has a military label which dates it to September 18, 1959. It "meets the standards of specification number QM purchase descp UQC S-66-9, produced under certificate F-4-267-a, Produced in accordance with sample under current certificate". That means this was made by a private tailor adhering to government standards. This was made by Plaza House H.K. Ltd, located in the "Far East Mansion, Kowloon, Hong Kong" as the inner tag states. (see last pic-for reference only). Also has the owners name sewn in on a tag..."Specially made for Mr. John P. Heintz". I did some research and I believe it is John Peter Heintz, from the Midwest, and I believe died in MN. I can't seem to find out much else about him. He must have been a Captain, or Commissioned Officer, with those Gold silk lapels and the 4-part trefoil knot design on each sleeve. I don't see a size tag, but seems like adult Small. Back in the late 1950s-early 1960s, the U S Navy was still visiting/anchoring/patrolling in Hong Kong for port visits, Liberty, and routine Western Pacific deployments (WESTPAC). I'm sure that's when Mr. Heintz went to the Plaza House to have this coat "Theater made" custom just for him. Very rare as most servicemen could not afford to have this done. Very good vintage lightly worn condition, no major flaws that I can see, displays great! Sold as-is.***I ship by USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE. Please ask any questions you have!
***IF I FIND OUT MORE INFO ABOUT THE WEARER OF THIS JACKET I WILLL POST IT.***
