Rapallo, ITALY - Sanctuary, Our Lady of Mont \'Allegro - 1910: The shrine basilica of our Lady of Mont\' Allegro is a Catholic place of worship of Rapallo, in the province of Genoa. Considered among the most important Marian shrines in the province of Genoa and Liguria, was built by Rapallese between 1557 and 1558, together with the adjoining shelter for pilgrims, after the apparition of the Virgin Mary on July 2, 1557 to Farmer John Caruso. The current marble façade is dating makeover done by the Milanese architect Luigi Rovelli in 1896, and opened with a solemn ceremony on June 21 of that year. Our Lady of Mont\' Allegro is the Patroness of the city of Rapallo from 1739, when she was elected as Patron Saint of the community Rapallese, the capitaneato and the parishes of Santa Margherita Ligure. This recognition is reflected on the coat of arms which depicts, from 28 November 1948, a letter \"M\" in the middle of two Griffins that support the Royal Crown. Rapallo is a municipality in the province of Genoa, in Liguria, northern Italy. As of 2011 it counts 30,742 inhabitants. It is situated on the Ligurian Sea coast, on the Tigullio Gulf, between Portofino and Chiavari. This Divided Back Era postcard, mailed in 1910, is in good condition, but shows some edge wear.
