RPPC c1940s Saint Rose Church Wilmington Illinois IL PostcardSmall bit of corner wear and edge wear from storage.ubject: The reverse side of a high-quality vintage Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) documenting a personal update and farm life news from Wilmington, Illinois, in 1954.Reverse Side Details: Postmarked: July 21, 1954, from Wilmington, Ill., featuring a clear circular machine cancellation. Stamp: Missing (previously removed). Recipient: Addressed to Miss Mary Kadlec at 5530 W. 22nd Place in Cicero 50, Illinois. Handwritten Message: A dense, cross-written personal letter in dark ink. The sender notes, \"(This is our church)\" at the top. The message continues: \"Dear Mary— Hope this card will find you happy & healthy. We are all ok. The weather has been very hot but the men work in fields anyway. The grain is all ripe so no time is wasted to get it combined. Ladies are busy too. Regards, E. Chmela.\" Layout: Standard divided back with faint \"Post Card\" typography.Condition Report:This postcard is in Very Good (VG) vintage condition. Back: The paper remains clean with only minor age-related toning. The handwriting is exceptionally bold, filling the entire message area. The postmark is remarkably clear. Edges/Corners: The corners are sharp with no significant rounding or \"bumping,\" and the edges are straight.Era:Mid-Century Modern (1954). This card provides a wonderful glimpse into Illinois Agricultural History. The mention of \"combining\" grain during a July heatwave perfectly captures the rhythmic labor of the Midwestern harvest season during the 1950s.Current Status:The recipient\'s address in Cicero, IL, remains a residential neighborhood today. The sender\'s note confirms that the Saint Rose Church on the front of the card was the spiritual center for the Chmela family. These personalized correspondences are highly valued by Genealogy and Social History collectors for their intimate connection to the everyday lives of Illinois families during the post-war era.
