ATTENTION POSTCARD COLLECTORS!
It came to my attention that there are “Scrape bots” collecting rare RPPC images. In order thwart them, I am placing a piece of paper with my store name, “The Vintage Argonaut” over a corner with the least detail. I researched this extensively and this is the best current way. The old watermarks are obsolete- AI tools can easily erase and flawlessly fill what is behind the watermark!
Genuine 1910s Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) capturing U.S. troops during the 1916 Mexico Punitive Expedition.
This historic photograph shows a long line of soldiers stationed directly along the railroad tracks. The bottom-left corner of the negative bears the authentic imprint: "W.H. Horne Co. El Paso, Tex.", and the caption reads "Using the Railroad in Mexico." Walter H. Horne is widely recognized as one of the premier photojournalists documenting the Mexican Revolution and the U.S. border crisis. His work offers a raw, documentary-style look into early 20th-century military logistics and camp life.
Condition Details: Front: Crisp, clear sepia image with minimal surface wear. Good contrast.
Back: Unposted split-back style. Features the era-correct AZO stamp box (four upward-pointing triangles confirming a 1904–1918 production).Markings: Features a faint, neat period pencil notation "1916" in the upper right corner of the reverse side. Corners remain relatively sharp with no heavy creasing. Please review the high-resolution scans carefully to judge the exact condition for yourself.Shipping: Ships securely tracked in a rigid top-loader cardboard mailer to ensure safe transit.
