*History:

\"Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Braun, Proprietors and Managers, Braun Mineral Springs.Henry L. and Ella Hannah Braun came from Lead to Hot Springs in 1904 to run the Evans Mud Baths and treat patients with rheumatism. Ella Braun had been born in Ohio c.1856. Her husband was a German immigrant. In 1907, Brauns contracted to put up a new stone building on the site of the Evans Mud Bath. Mrs., “Mme.” Braun was reported to have “graduated from the Las Vegas Hot Springs Sanitarium, N.M.” with training in baths and massage. Brauns’ Bath House was opened with a public reception in May 1910. The business included “baths, electrical apparatus and places of treatment,” including mineral and mud baths, electrical and water-powered vibrators, Therapeutic lamps and electric light baths, and sweat and steam rooms. Henry L. and Mrs. Braun each ran their respective gender-segregated facilities within the hotel. Each managed a team of masseurs/masseuses and bath attendants. The staff also included Mrs. Hall as day clerk. The building including guest rooms, dining rooms (run by Mr. and Mrs. H. Weil), kitchen, office, laundry annex, parlors, reading rooms, dressing rooms, and beauty parlor with facial treatments, manicuring, and hair dressing. In April 1910, the staff included masseuse Emily Reynolds. In September 1910, the dining room was taken over by Mrs. Florence Wheeler from Omaha, but the Brauns took over the dining room management in July 1911. In June 1914, Dr. B Norbom-Oxenius of Denver joined the hotel. She was reportedly trained in hydrotherapy, electrical treatments, and Swedish massage and movement. In 1913-15, the Brauns started closing their place in Hot Springs for the winters, which they spent in California (one year, running a similar business there) and in Florida. Hannah Braun died in 1934 and was buried in Hot Springs. The Braun Hotel was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in June 1974 as a contributing resource in the Hot Springs Historic District\".
