1998 Kai Tak / Cathay Pacific Departure Tax Receipt Pair – 0055554 & 0055555
An unusual piece of Hong Kong aviation history from the final weeks of Kai Tak Airport.
This lot includes two consecutive Hong Kong SAR Air Passenger Departure Tax receipts:
The standout piece is F5A 0055555 — not simply a receipt ending in 55555, but the full serial presents the exceptionally memorable combination F5A 0055555.
Receipt F5A 0055554 remains stapled to its original Cathay Pacific travel document for:

Kai Tak Airport closed permanently on 6 July 1998, meaning this document dates from just 16 days before Kai Tak\'s closure.
The second receipt, F5A 0055555, is loose and immediately follows 0055554, creating a consecutive-number pair.
Both receipts are for the HK$100 Hong Kong SAR Air Passenger Departure Tax.
What makes this lot especially unusual is the combination of:

It would be extremely difficult to reproduce this exact combination of serial numbers, dated travel paperwork and surviving original attachment. While I cannot verify that no other comparable example exists, this should be regarded as a highly individual and potentially one-of-a-kind surviving combination of Kai Tak-era travel ephemera.

Condition
This is original vintage used travel ephemera, not a modern reproduction.
The Cathay Pacific document was already folded during its life and remains in its period-folded condition. It shows visible folds, creasing, handling wear, toning and other age-related signs of use.
Receipt F5A 0055554 remains stapled to the original Cathay Pacific paperwork. The staple has intentionally been left in place to preserve the relationship between the receipt and travel document.
Receipt F5A 0055555 also shows normal vintage handling and age-related wear.
