This rare M.A. Hadley stoneware piece depicts a relaxing fisherman leaning back against a tree on the shore.  What makes this piece particularly special and scarce is the dual backstamp on the reverse side: ⁠Saks 5th Ave. / M.A. Hadley⁠. Early in M.A. Hadley\'s studio history (particularly mid-20th century), select lines and exclusive orders were produced directly for luxury retailer Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, making pieces bearing this retail marking highly desirable to stoneware and folk art collectors.
