Up for sale is a highly rare and beautifully preserved 10-inch antique figural glass candy jar manufactured in 1932 for the Brandle & Smith Candy Company of Philadelphia, PA.
This distinct Art Deco design is famously known among collectors as the "Flapper Girl" or "Mermaid" jar, originally used to retail hard candies or peanuts brittle, as this one was used for.
This specific piece is an exceptional find because it retains its incredibly fragile, original factory paper components that rarely survive the decades: the lithographed cardboard face insert and the red paper/foil waist belt.” What a truly special jar, preserved carefully for generations!

Base Markings: Features the authentic historic Brockway "B" accompanied by a lowercase "g" logo.
The base includes mold tracking codes ("1" to the left, "2" above) and the single-digit year code "2" to the right, precisely dating this bottle's production to 1932.

Design Elements:
Features clean, machine-made vertical mold seams extending to the upper rim, a stylized textured bob haircut, crossed arms, and a classic Art Deco swirled skirt/base. It is a three piece assembly , with the bottom cup base being made and attached later.
Condition Report:
Glass & Metal Lid: The glass body is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or flea bites. The swirled base and figural details remain crisp. The original screw-on metal lid shows a beautiful, age-appropriate dark patina with light surface wear but screws on smoothly.
Paper/Foil Inserts:
The lithographed cardboard face insert is fully intact inside the head cavity with vibrant color. The red paper waist belt is present around the center of the jar, showing minimal age-appropriate wear and keeping the unique silhouette beautifully framed.
Note: This item has been kept strictly dry to preserve the integrity of the original paper components.
The interior was painstakingly cleaned but bits of the original peanut brittle remain in the most challenging areas to reach, especially the bottom skirt rim. Please view photos for further details.
