Louis XVI was the first dinnerware line to carry the eagle-over-lion back stamp. Introduced in 1890, the line was likely made for a very short time (perhaps less than a year) and exceedingly difficult to find today. Very Few of these Louis XVI pieces show up anywhere - Here's your chance to have a piece of American pottery history in a rare form indeed with this soup tureen set!
Louis XVI is an ornately embossed shape with tusk-like handles and finials.
This soup serving dish set features gold line decaling and beautiful wildflowers on the sides and lid and ladle.Condition: Good to Very Good Antique preowned condition. No cracks. No chips on ladle or base of the tureen dish. Has two chips on the cover, one on the outside edge and the other on the underside of the lid. Has the expected under the glaze crazing and minor age staining, very common with antique ceramic pottery. Decal, gold lines, and glaze is shiny and bright. Small factory imperfections possible on this piece from factory production such as sand bumps, glaze pops, glaze misses, etc. Little issues on this very rare piece, very good antique condition.
