RARE 1883 SUSIE B. SKELDING \"A HANDFUL OF BLOSSOMS\" Victorian Poetry Book PANSY For Sale

Offered here is a beautiful Victorian lithograph booklet of poems and flowers, dated 1883. This Victorian soft cover booklet is titled \"A Handful of Blossoms\" arranged and illustrated by Susie B. Skelding. Published by White, Stokes & Allen, NY. The wonderful booklet features poems relating to specific flowers. Featured are Apple Blossoms, White Clover and Violets, Morning Glories, Poppy and Wheat. There are 18 pages four of which are full colored plates as pictured.
The booklet measures 8\" by 9\" not including the light blue silk fringe. It is tied with a blue silk ribbon. There is some minor chipping to the wrap cover\'s spine by the ribbon (see photos)
The pages are all tight and clean. The cover has a gorgeous display of Pansies and pussy willows with a daisy and butterfly border.
Truly a wonderful treasured booklet to display and add to any collection. Not many of these booklets have survived over the years and they are nearly impossible to find.

Susie Barstow Skelding (1857-1934) was an American botanical artist, illustrator and author. She is perhaps best-known for herFlower Songs Series, in which Skelding created illustrations to accompany poems by well-known American poets.
