HISTORY
Corning Glass Works made popular kitchen glassware in Corning, New York, starting in the early twentieth century. They introduced durable pressed glassware lines decorated with
cheerful patterns in the middle of the twentieth century to brighten family kitchens and dining rooms. These pieces were formed by pressing molten glass into metal moulds and then
firing colourful ceramic designs onto the outer surfaces. Homemakers used these rectangular dishes to store leftovers, marinate meats, and bake small casseroles inside home kitchen
appliances. The tight-fitting clear glass lids helped keep food fresh while storing items neatly on refrigerator shelves. Their practical shape and cheerful floral decorations eventually made them beloved collector items rather than everyday kitchen utensils.
