This is a piece of Amygdaloidal Basalt (Lava Rock with gas pockets) with green Epidote and white Calcite that was hand polished on one side to show its beauty while leaving the other sides natural. This was found in a copper mine in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan.
When the lava formed, gas pockets were trapped in the hardening rock. Later water filled with minerals filled those pockets, leaving behind the pretty stone we see today. These nodules are filled with Calcite and green Epidote.
Michigan has the prettiest lava on the planet.
This was polished on the lapidary wheel to 3000 grit and the hit with a super thin layer of lacquer to make the colors really pop.
