Up for sale is a 1940 “The Harvard Freshman Red Book” with John F. Kennedy pictured in several places. In addition to JFK the yearbook also has Pete Seeger in it. Published in 1937.
It appears that Harvard jumps the gun on publishing its Red Book. It has the Freshmen class that will graduate in 1940.
Pete Seeger enrolled at Harvard College in 1936 to study sociology with the goal of becoming a journalist but dropped out before his final exams in 1938. Disillusioned with academia, he spent his time playing the tenor banjo and traveling the country to immerse himself in folk music.
Alan Jay Lerner became one of Broadway’s most famous lyricists.
The cover appears to be leather, and it has a little edge and corner wear with a few scratches. A name embossed on the front cover. The pages are clean, No Signatures, 263 pages long, pages slightly yellow, and the binding is firm.
