President John F. Kennedy - Pete Seeger -The Harvard Freshman Red Book 1940 Rare For Sale

Up for sale is a 1940 “The Harvard Freshman Red Book” with John F. Kennedy pictured in several places. In addition to JFK the yearbook also has Pete Seeger in it. Published in 1937.

It appears that Harvard jumps the gun on publishing its Red Book. It has the Freshmen class that will graduate in 1940.

• Academic and Personal Profile: He listed his preparatory school as Choate and intended to pursue a concentration in Government with an intended vocation of Law.

• Athletics: Kennedy was a member of the freshman football and swimming squads. While he was noted as \"the most adept pass catcher\" on the football team, his \"lack of weight was a drawback\".

• Extracurriculars: He served as the chairman of the Smoker Committee, which was responsible for bringing entertainment and performers to campus.

• Famous Classmates: JFK’s 1940 class cohort also included other notable figures such as musician Pete Seeger and lyricist Alan Jay Lerner.

Pete Seeger enrolled at Harvard College in 1936 to study sociology with the goal of becoming a journalist but dropped out before his final exams in 1938. Disillusioned with academia, he spent his time playing the tenor banjo and traveling the country to immerse himself in folk music.

Alan Jay Lerner became one of Broadway’s most famous lyricists.

The cover appears to be leather, and it has a little edge and corner wear with a few scratches. A name embossed on the front cover. The pages are clean, No Signatures, 263 pages long, pages slightly yellow, and the binding is firm.
