The U.S. Marine Corps award two types of Marine CorpsMarksmanship Qualification Badges, one for the service rifle and one for theservice pistol, to all Marines who qualify at three different qualificationlevels (highest to lowest): expert, sharpshooter, and marksman. Thesequalification badges are suspended beneath a brooch which bears the name of thetype of weapon (rifle or pistol) and the qualification level earned. Some ofthese badges are different in appearance, depending on the type of weapon andqualification level. This is a rarely seen reference is some nice photographic, and quality histories on the different kinds of the shooting badges that the Marine Corps adopted starting in 1912. The different ears covered are as follows: stared in 1912, up to 1922 (the WW I era), changes made in 1924, additions made in 1929 (use of the Army Qualification Badge), 1935 to 1937 (the use of the Marine Basic Badge, and finally into the 1960s (the styles we see today). This reprinted 8 1/2 x 11 staple bound book has 55 Pages. There are 24 pages of color photos front and back of badges in the last appendix. The color photos are intended to be a photo study, the author did not have enough info to accurately date the badges. There are excerpts on Marine shooitng badges from the 1912 and 1922 uniforms regulations, amd also from the book Marine Hereos from 1955.
