A highly attractive vintage Pelikan 400 fountain pen, finished in the classic green-striped pattern with black components and gold-coloured trim. Its Günther Wagner barrel imprint, proportions and design are consistent with an original Pelikan 400 from the 1950–1956 production period.
The Pelikan 400 is one of the most recognisable vintage Pelikan models, featuring the classic green-striped body, piston-filling system and original ebonite feed. A lovely, usable German fountain pen with genuine collector appeal.
Condition Report
Very good vintage condition overall, with no major damage noted.
The pen has been lightly cleaned to preserve its period character rather than being over-polished. There are a few tiny blue ink droplets/marks to the body, possibly residual ink from within the pen, which may wipe away further. They are difficult to notice in normal handling but have been photographed clearly for complete transparency.
The fountain pen has been flushed and is ready to ink and use. The piston mechanism operates correctly and the pen is functioning as it should.
It is fitted with its original 14ct / 585 gold nib and four-channel ebonite feed. The nib has a lovely soft flex, producing a medium line in normal use with pleasing line variation under gentle pressure. Please see the writing sample in the photographs.
