Item Description:An exceptional, genuine antique silver chloride gelatin photograph (ca. 1900) capturing a magnificent exterior view of the iconic Palacio de Aguas Corrientes (Water Company Palace) located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Designed by Argentine engineer Carlos Nyströmer and British architect John Bateman, this monumental water pumping station was completed in 1894 and stands as one of the most stunning examples of eclectic architecture in South America. The photograph features a spectacular perspective of the building\'s outer facade, which is uniquely clad in over 300,000 multi-colored glazed terra-cotta tiles imported from the famous British manufacturer Royal Doulton. The image brilliantly details the highly decorative Second Empire and French Renaissance motifs, including majestic corner towers, ornate window frames, royal crests, and extensive relief panels. On the cobblestone street below, a traditional horse-drawn carriage and early figures provide a wonderful historical scale, anchoring the scene to the turn-of-the-century era. This is a premium-quality, historically significant visual record of a premier Buenos Aires architectural masterpiece during its early years of operation.Specifications & Condition:
