Pair Vintage Table Lamps Massive Belgium 1970s Mid Century Space Age Pop Art For Sale

These distinctive globe table lamps were produced by Massive of Belgium, combining softly illuminated opal glass globes with sculptural, spiral-shaped metal bases.

Each lamp features a spherical white glass globe measuring 15 cm in diameter, held within a continuous coiled metal structure that wraps around the globe and continues down to form the base. When illuminated, the opal glass diffuses the light into a warm, atmospheric glow, while the metallic spiral creates a striking contrast around the softly glowing sphere.

The combination of spherical glass, polished gold-tone metal and the playful spiral construction gives the pair a distinctly 1970s character. Their design sits comfortably between Space Age and Hollywood Regency, bringing together the futuristic fascination with geometric forms and the more glamorous use of warm metallic finishes associated with Regency interiors.

Produced by Massive, Belgium, the lamps are part of the company’s extensive range of decorative lighting from the period. Massive was one of Belgium’s major lighting manufacturers and distributors, with a particularly broad catalogue spanning functional, decorative and Space Age-inspired designs. The company also produced and distributed lamps incorporating components from specialist manufacturers, making its historical catalogue notably diverse.

The lamps are sold as a matching pair, making them particularly suitable for bedside tables, consoles, sideboards or symmetrical arrangements in a living room or bedroom.
