Pair of vintage Indonesian copper batik tjap/cap textile-printing stamps with intricate floral and botanical designs.
These traditional tools were used in Indonesian batik production to apply hot wax in repeating patterns before dyeing the fabric. Each stamp is constructed from finely formed copper elements with a substantial metal handle on the reverse.
I personally brought these back from Indonesia in the early 1990s. Their exact date of manufacture is unknown, so I am listing them conservatively as vintage rather than antique.
The two stamps have different floral designs and show substantial age/use-related patina, oxidation, residue, and irregularities consistent with working textile tools. Please review the photographs carefully for condition and construction.
Included:two Indonesian batik tjap/cap copper printing stamps.
Suitable for textile-art collections, batik history collections, display, studio décor, or use as traditional printing tools.
