This is a stunning, authentic pair of late 19th-century French Napoleon III-style opaline glass mantle vases. Standing at an impressive 10 inches tall, these cylinder vases feature a beautifully molded ring-neck design and a flared foot base.
Crafted from premium opaline glass, they display a highly desirable, soft grayish-blue/lavender tint that beautifully catches the light. Each vase is meticulously decorated by hand with vibrant, raised enamel flora—including daisies, bluebells, and trumpet vines—alongside intricately detailed dragonflies. The rims, center rings, and bases are elegantly accented with delicate gold gilt trim.
Because these were entirely hand-painted by 19th-century artisans, the compositions are beautifully mirrored rather than identical, giving them incredible character and unique antique charm.
This pair is in pristine condition. There are no flea bites along the top edge or bottom. The gold gilt trim also seems to be in excellent condition.
