ACEO Art Original Textile Embroidery India 2.5\"x3.5\" Trading Card

This ACEO(Art Trading Card) is made from a piece of India’s incredible embroideryhistory. Vintage Beaded and Embroidered Sari or Dupatta Material is used andsometimes includes the magnificent 3-D embroidery called zardosi or zardozi(zari for short). Each ACEO is completely finished and suitable for an album or display orframing.

My sister, Mimi, (store = Mimi Collects It) compiled these beautiful little textileworks of art after looking at hundreds of different garment trims. Not all trimis suitable in size or composition for ACEO art so she puts many hours of work into theselection of the material.

Mimi says:
“I believe that there is no more beautiful embroidery on earth than that whichcomes from India. For centuries, families have embroidered elaborate wedding clothing for theirchildren beginning at their births and families have donned elaborately beadedand embroidered veils and garments for festivals and celebrations of all kinds. This ACEO is a small sample of some of this amazing handiwork. It is literallya sculpture on fabric done with needle and thread and in some cases, embellishments like tiny gemstones, sequins and beads. The work is so fine andwell-done, it may be hard to believe that it is hand-made but this is 100%hand-made and the original design of the Indian artist who created it.”

ABOUT SFA and ACEO ART CARDS:SFA stands for Small Format Art, or art that is 14 inches or less on one side. Most of us cannot afford to own an art gallery or wouldn\'t have the room to incorporate one into our homes but SFA tends to be inexpensive and is easy to store and display. ACEO art is just one type of SFA. ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions, and Originals. ACEOs have only ONE rule: They must be the same size as other collectible cards, like baseball cards, that is, 2 ½ inches by 3 1/2 inches. Other than size, they are only limited by the artist’s imagination. They can be paintings, inlaid wood, textile, glitter-covered, whatever! ACEOs have been around for centuries in one form or another and are as popular as ever. Who wouldn’t want to build their own miniature art gallery?

STORING AND DISPLAYING ACEO:See my store for several different easel types and other ACEO display ideas. Some people store ACEOs like sports cards, in photo albums, in clear pocketed sheets in a binder, or vertically in a specialized box. ACEOs can be framed with or without a mat, and with or without glass.
