Pocket pens are designed with portability in mind. While capped, a pocket pen will measure less than 125mm from end-to-end. However, when posted, it becomes a full sized fountain pen. Pocket pens were popular in the 60's & 70's but recently have been making a comeback. Being easy to slip in a pocket or purse make pocket pens ideal for travel and those who are always on the go.
Pilot was the last of the "Big Three" Japanese pen makers to join the pocket pen trend. Pilot introduced the Elite S in 1964. The "S" was meant to distinguished the new short pens from the full size Pilot Elite. Over the years, the Elite was produced in various materials and finishes from plastic to sterling silver and even wood. Even today, the Elite is still produced, under the name of "E95s." Many Pilot pens are marked with the month, year, and sometimes even the day the pen was produced, making them a fantastic option for "Birth-year Pens." Please see the last photo shows a small chip on the barrel.

A NOTE ON TARIFFS
Importing items into the US has become more expensive in 2025. On August 29th, the US is ending the "de minimis" rule which allowed shipments under $800 to enter the US without tariffs. Those goods will now be assessed a tariff based on their Country Of Origin. Our items are located in the US. There are NO TARIFFS on any of our items when shipped to a US address. When comparing our our offerings to other sellers outside the US, the final price of those items outside the US will be higher. Buyers will incur tariff and clearance fees on their purchases. Some sellers disclose those fees while others only state that the fees will be incurred. For items originally from the EU, Germany, France, Italy, UK and Japan, the tariff is 15%. For items from Switzerland, the tariff is now also 15%. Clearance and brokerage fees will increase the cost beyond those tariffs. Items are assessed tariffs base on "Country Of Origin" not based on the country from which they are shipped. For example, a Swiss watch shipped from Japan will incur tariffs at the Swiss rate of 15%.
