DETAILS:Estate collection. Photograph album compiled by Elizabeth May Schott. Titled \"Little Journeys. Elizabeth May Schott Sept 1909\".Ms May appears to have been awealthy woman who participated on the Hudson Fulton Celebration and then went on to visit towns on the Eastern Seaboard on her way to British North America. The album documents her travels sailingthrough theHudson River and then onto thelocks and canals of the St Lawrence River. Her final destination inthe album is Montreal, Quebec, BNA.There are 86 photographs in total with hand written notations below them. The photographsappear to be both albumens and earlygelatin prints. Each measures approximately 4 1/2\" x 3\" inches. The photos in the books can be broken into the following four category:
1. The Hudson Fulton Celebration of 1909 -- About20 photographs. Ms. May appears to have participated inthe naval regatta and taken shots of many of the other ships. Included are a couple of nice photos of Robert Peary\'s The Roosevelt. She tookthe time to identifymany of thevessels by name (The Clement, North River Steamboat, Battleship New Jersey). Others sheidentified with the type of vessel pictured (British Manowar, Italian Manowar, American Manowar, Torpedo Battleship Destroyer etc).She even identifies the background location (Yonkers, NY) andthose ofinterestsuch as an early lighthouseon the Hudson near NYC.
2. Life around Northfield Massachuettes, circa 1909. About 20 photographsThere are photo\'s of houses, people, life on the farm. Streets are mentioned as are other locations. These include a farm, people going about on carriages. Several around Mount Hermon including a building identified as a gym but looks to be more like a early government building. There is a photo od Dwight L Moody\'s house as well as a phto of his Brother Isaa.
3. JourneyOnward to British North AMerican &Montreal -- About 25 photographs. Visits to Newburgh NY, Camp Pilsbury, St. Lawrence River, locks / canals Montreal,Monastery, railroad locomotive etc.
