Baa Baa Black Sheep, WWII memoir of medal of honor recipient and Marine Corps ace, Pappy Boyington. The book has been flat signed (not inscribed) by Boyington on the inside title page in pen. It is signed 'Col. Greg 'Pappy' Boyington'. It is rare to find these not signed to a previous owner and signed with his formal full name and rank. A rare find indeed!
The book has a tight spine. There is no writing, underlining or highlighting and no loose or missing pages. The dust cover has damage to the top edge with several missing areas, but is protected from further damage by a mylar cover. An excellent copy for your collection!Collectors: These WWII signed items that I have listed are from what I consider, as a collector myself, to be the 'golden age' of military aviation. The pace of aircraft development and the exploits of these men and their planes are something that will never again be repeated in history. Sadly, all but a very few of these pilots and crew have long passed and their signatures are what is left as a direct link to their story and this history. With that being said, these autographs are finite and no more are being produced, which means that their value and scarcity will only increase over time as copies are absorbed into collections and others are lost, thrown away or left languishing in an attic box somewhere. This is a great time to start collecting these wonderful links to our history and to help keep this story in our nation's history alive. Keep 'em flying!
