Original early 1900s large-format photograph showing a Southern Pacific Railroad steam train traveling along the rocky coastline of Pacific Grove, California. This is part of the historic Monterey Branch Line, one of the rare places where SP trains ran directly beside the ocean.
This photograph is an authentic turn-of-the-century gelatin silver (or late albumen) print, not a modern reproduction. The handwritten caption “Pacific Grove Calif.” is period-correct and adds to the provenance.
