This original World War II psychological warfare leaflet was dropped by Allied forces to encourage surrender among Japanese troops. Featuring bold English text reading "I SURRENDER" on one side and a detailed message written in Japanese calligraphy on the other, these leaflets were designed to serve as safe-conduct passes guaranteeing humane treatment, medical care, and food to any Japanese soldier who chose to lay down their arms. Producing and distributing these drops was a key tactic used by the Allies in the Pacific Theater to undermine enemy morale, offer a viable path to survival amidst collapsing supply lines, and shorten the bitter conflict.
