Original Large RAY-MOND Zombies Jamboree Magic Spook Show Hand Painted Poster: $575.00
Ray-Mond “Zombie’s Jamboree” Hand-Painted Midnight Ghost Show Poster, Vintage 1951 Magic and Horror Theater Signs This is an original large vintage hand-painted theater poster for Ray-Mond’s “Zombie’s Jamboree,” a midnight spook show that combined stage magic, séance illusions, and a horror film. It’s a one-of-a-kind lobby board with two original mounted photographs, made for a single midnight performance paired with the vampire film “Condemned to Live.”. A hole remains at the top for a 3rd photo that has been lost to history. Ray-Mond and the Midnight Spook Show - Ray-Mond (Raymond Corbin) was one of the leading ghostmasters of the 1940s and 1950s spook show circuit
- His “Zombie’s Jamboree” toured theaters from the mid-1940s into the early 1950s
- The show was notorious for its staged gore, including a mock surgery on a volunteer pulled from the audience
- Spook shows mixed magic, ghost illusions, a theater-wide blackout, and a horror movie, usually at midnight
Dating and Provenance - The board advertises a midnight show on Friday, September 14th, at 75¢ admission
- The only Friday, September 14 during the show’s run fell in 1951
- Ray-Mond’s Zombies Jamboree played Lima and Chillicothe, Ohio, earlier that same month at the same 75¢ admission
- Likely from an Ohio or Pennsylvania theater on that 1951 circuit
- Purchased from an estate sale in Pennsylvania, together with a hand-painted Ray-Mond “Voo Doo Show” board (also listed)
Details - Hand-lettered on board stock in pink, cream, white, blue, and red on a deep maroon ground
- “On the Stage / Midnight Only / Friday September 14th / Zombie’s Jamboree / Plus on the Screen ‘Condemned to Live’ / Admission 75¢ / Tickets on Sale Now”
- Two original black-and-white photographs mounted in painted frames: a costumed showgirl, and a man in evening dress with a draped “ghost” figure
- “Condemned to Live” (1935) is a vampire film from Poverty Row studio Chesterfield/Invincible, a typical spook show feature
- Approximately 40.75" × 26.75"
Condition: - See photos for accurate representation of overall condition.
- Numerous tears, rips, scuffs and marks on poster / board.
Why It Matters - It’s hand-painted, not a printed stock poster
- It’s tied to a specific night on a documented Ray-Mond tour
- It crosses into magic memorabilia, horror film, ghost show, and Ohio/Pennsylvania regional theater collecting
- It makes a standout Halloween display piece with genuine history behind it
Shipping - Ships flat, professionally packed with rigid backing. Likely via UPS.
- Local pickup available in the NY/NJ area
