Original Dave Cohen Squid Tiki Farm Mug Goof on the Roof 2007 Bali Hai San Diego For Sale

Atop the roof of the Shelter Island Bali Hai resort in San Diego, CA sits a large carving of a Tiki named \"The Goof\". If you’re familiar with San Diego, you’ve likely discovered the laid-back Polynesian-inspired delights of the Bali Hai on Shelter Island, a great dock-and-dine spot. The legendary tikis are Mr. Bali Hai, their official greeter, and the rooftop Goof, whose single red eye doubles as an aircraft-warning beacon. Early matchbook covers revealed that the Goof head, was prominent on the earlier franchises in Balboa and Corona del Mar, and was subsequently transposed to the San Diego restaurant. However, the actual meaning of the head, the Goof, still remains a mystery. The Goof tiki carving originally was used in a Clark Gable movie in the 30\'s, and some how it found its way to the Bali Hai, and over time The Goof has become the mascot. Sometime later The Goof tiki mug was born. The Goof was sculpted by Dave \"Squid\" Cohen for Tiki Farm and the design was based on the artwork from the matchbook from Christian\'s Hut in Corona Del Mar. The mug is shaped like a grinning man\'s head with crooked teeth. He wears a tall headdress decorated with red Pacific Islander art that flares at the top. The bottom of the tiki mug reads..\"The Goof Mfg by Tiki Farm 2007\". The Goof\'s right eye is painted red and the left eye is black with painted crooked jagged teeth and bone ear rings in both ears. The mug is in \"like new\" display only pre owned condition. No mug is exactly the same as they are all hand painted. This mug measures approximately 6-1/2 inches tall by approximatley 3-1/2 inches in diameter.
