15.5 x 20.5 framed original poster. Came from the estate of an advertising collector.
This poster is an original point-of-purchase retail display ad from the late 1940s or early 1950s, promoting the specific "2 Grinds" packaging variant that Hills Bros. introduced during that era.
Displays like this were distributed directly to grocery stores and independent markets to catch consumers' eyes right at the storefront or endcap displays.
The bearded figure in the yellow robe and turban sipping coffee is known officially as "The Taster" or "The Arabian Taster". He was originally created by a San Francisco artist in 1898 for the brand when it was still operating as the Arabian Coffee & Spice Mills.
The poster prominently features the iconic "Red Can Brand". In 1900, Hills Bros. became the first coffee roaster in history to introduce vacuum-packed tins.
