Shows typical age-appropriate toning and edge wear with a significant corner loss and tears, creasing, and staining.

Historical Note: Austin Hansen was a pivotal 20th-century photojournalist and studio photographer who operated his studio out of 232 West 135th Street in Harlem for over four decades. Known as a key visual chronicler of Black American life, Hansen’s work documented everyday community events, Abyssinian Baptist Church, and historic figures such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Eleanor Roosevelt. Major collections of his work are held in the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
