Hart of Muncie announced the winner of the contest he had staged to name his new car, and the INTER-STATE Automobile Company was born [Kimes, Clark]. In 1914 the firm was reorganized as INTER-STATE Motor company. The best year was 1917 with 1,413 cars sold. In 1918 the last INTER-STATE was built.
In 11 years a little more than 8,000 cars were produced.
