• Type: Original Newspaper Wood Engraving / Centerfold Print• Artist: Thomas Nast• Publication: Harper\'s Weekly (December 26, 1863)• Subject: Civil War Holiday / Santa Claus / Home Front• Condition: Used / Good Frameable Condition
Approximate Sheet Dimensions: 14.5\" x 21\" (Standard double-page size).
Authentic, original double-page centerfold wood engraving titled \"Christmas, 1863\" by the legendary political cartoonist Thomas Nast. Published in the December 26, 1863 edition of Harper\'s Weekly, this historic artifact is a powerful piece of Civil War era ephemera and features one of Nast\'s earliest, foundational depictions of the modern American Santa Claus.
Print is in Good Frameable Condition and has been carefully preserved as an unbound, standalone sheet. To ensure absolute accuracy for collectors, please note the following physical details:• Minor Mounting Tape Remnants: There are three small (1/2-inch) pieces of mounting tape remaining at the very top edge of the page from a previous matting or framing setup. This tape is entirely confined to the upper margin and does not enter or affect the image area at all. They will be completely hidden once re-matted or framed.• Period Printing Defect: There is a vertical white line printing error, approximately 3 inches long, extending downward directly through the letter \"H\" in the word \"Christmas\" near the center text block. This is a fascinating manufacturing/press anomaly from the original 1863 printing run, rather than post-publication damage.
