Herewe have an absolutely stunning 1941 Philco model 41-225 tabletop tube radiofeaturing a gorgeous American Walnut cabinet, genuine Zebrawood & Hollyinlays, attractive dial, automatic pushbutton tuning, built in loop antenna,great Art Deco appeal and fantastic performance.
Cabinet: TheAmerican Walnut cabinet is an absolute showstopper. Its attractive curves, andridged base trim, make this one of my all-time favorite Philco designs.Gorgeous wood grain flows throughout the entire set. The Zebrawood inlays,outlined by Holly pinstripes, really catch your eye. A large open grill notonly looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. Jet black trimfinishes the cabinet off with the perfect contrast. This little beauty is sureto be the highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display itin.
Dial& Knobs: Philco's cream & black colored dial is quiteattractive. It is illuminated by a top mounted dial lamp for easy dim or darkroom tuning. All letters and numbers are legible and show little signs of wear.All three knobs are in great shape and control volume, band switch (between AMbroadcast & now defunct police band) and tuning. The first push buttoncontrols on/off. Although the push button tuning is functional, it isrecommended you use the tuning knob due to the age and delicacy of themechanism. If you do choose to use this feature, the push buttons would need tobe preset to your local stations.
GrillCloth: The 1930's style grill cloth is a fine replacement fabricfeaturing gold & maroon colors with a diamond and black dash pattern. Thisfabric can also be purchased separately in our store or just click thislink: class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;">
Chassis: All tubes in the 6-tube chassis were tested with any weaktubes being replaced. All caps, filters and resistors were checked and replacedas needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassishas been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using just thebuilt-in loop antenna, the radio plays exceptionally well. I'm able to receivemany stations across the AM broadcast band with good tone and plenty of volume.

Our goal is to maintainthe natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster andshine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. Wethen sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood.Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer isre-secured. We make sure any filler applied, or repairs made are blended nicelyand do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. Newstains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats ofMohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radiowas originally finished in the factory. We use nitrocellulose piano lacquerwhich is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in aclimate-controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also applyvery thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not coverit up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishingprocess and ending with a QAR-Glaze rub (available in our store or clickhere: https://www..com/itm/133346478270). Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the outcomeis a beautiful, natural-looking cabinet with gorgeous luster & shine. Ourradios are a great piece of history that comes to you ready to proudly display,as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office.
