This is a Pelikan 400NN M&K Green Stripe fountain pen.
The 400NN is one of Pelikan’s most iconic vintage fountain pens. Unlike the standard 400NN, this version was manufactured in the 1970s by the German writing instrument manufacturer Merz & Krell (M&K) on behalf of Pelikan. The M&K 400NN was produced from approximately 1973 to 1978 and differs from the standard 400NN in several construction details.
The barrel features Pelikan’s iconic green-striped celluloid, combined with a black cap and gold-colored clip and trim, giving the pen a classic and elegant appearance.
The pen is fitted with a 14C (585) gold nib. The nib size is F (Fine), making it suitable for everyday writing as well as smaller handwriting in notebooks and planners.
The pen is equipped with an ebonite feed. The M&K version also features its own nib unit construction and thread specifications, which differ from those of the earlier standard 400NN.
The filling system is Pelikan’s traditional piston-filling mechanism. Ink can be drawn directly from an ink bottle by turning the piston knob at the end of the barrel.
Although this is a vintage fountain pen manufactured several decades ago, it shows almost no signs of use and remains in near-mint condition. As it has been stored for many years, please check the photos for any very minor storage marks or surface wear.
The M&K 400NN has several distinctive features that differentiate it from the standard 400NN and is relatively uncommon on the market today. This is an excellent example for anyone looking for a particularly well-preserved vintage Pelikan.
