This beautiful antique Early American Pattern Glass novelty basket was produced by National Glass Company, Northwood Works, in the highly collectible Open O's pattern introduced in 1903. Featuring a clear pressed glass basket form accented with a striking white opalescent openwork border, this elegant example showcases the creative artistry and craftsmanship that made Northwood one of America's premier glassmakers during the early twentieth century.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Antique National Glass Company (Northwood Works) Open O's novelty basket in white opalescent glass. The basket features a shallow round form with a scalloped and geometric pressed pattern radiating from the center. The distinctive white opalescent Open O's border surrounds the rim, while the applied clear glass handle rises gracefully above the basket. A charming and increasingly difficult-to-find example of early American pressed glass.

ITEM CONDITION

This basket is in Excellent Antique Condition with No Chips, No Cracks, and No Repairs. The glass remains clean and bright with only light wear consistent with age and careful use.

PATTERN & DESIGN

The Open O's pattern is among the most recognizable opalescent glass patterns produced by National Glass Company. Characterized by its distinctive reticulated rim of interconnected loops and circles, the pattern was offered on a variety of novelty forms including baskets, vases, bowls, and table accessories. The combination of brilliant clear glass and soft white opalescence creates a striking contrast that remains highly desirable among EAPG and Northwood collectors more than a century after its introduction.

 

This measures 4 1/2" High x 6 3/4" Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Vase.
