New never used! No chips or cracks. Both are made of heavy clear glass with cigarette rests around the rim and the green Velvet Turtle logo printed in the center. These are increasingly difficult to find, particularly as a matching pair from the former Velvet Turtle restaurant chain.

The Velvet Turtle was a well-known fine-dining restaurant chain founded in California in the 1960s. These ashtrays are original restaurant/barware memorabilia from the now-defunct chain and make a great collectible for fans of vintage California restaurants, restaurant advertising, mid-century/retro barware, or tobacciana. Its recognizable branding featured the dressed-up turtle/top-hat imagery. The chain operated for decades and was eventually owned by Marriott before disappearing.
